Program Description
Neuroscience is the study of the nervous system, the cells and tissues of which it consists; the thoughts, emotions and behaviors that it manifests and the way it changes due to stimuli from both inside and outside the body. It is an interdisciplinary science that combines aspects of Biology,
Psychology, Philosophy, and Chemistry. Neuroscientists examine the development, structure and function of the nervous system, what happens in disease states and mental illness and how different compounds can alter its activity. Students interested in a minor in Neuroscience should see the chair of either the Biology Department or Psychology & Philosophy Department.
